Engine overheating in summer: causes and fixes

Gulf summer heat puts heavy load on the cooling system of heavy equipment, and any small fault quickly shows up as high coolant temperature.

⚠️ Never open the radiator cap while the engine is hot. The coolant is under pressure and can cause burns.

Most common causes

  • Radiator core clogged with dust and sand.
  • Low coolant or a leaking hose.
  • Stuck thermostat.
  • Loose or broken fan belt.
  • Weak water pump.

What to do

  1. Stop the machine and let it cool.
  2. Blow out the radiator core with air, from the inside out.
  3. Check the coolant level and top up with the right coolant.
  4. Check the fan belt and tighten it.
  5. If overheating repeats, check the thermostat and water pump.

Summer tip

Weekly radiator cleaning on dusty sites saves you many breakdowns and extends engine life.
